The Villa Sträuli Studios

The Sulzberg Foundation makes available three studios in the Villa Sträuli in Winterthur to creative artists of all disciplines and backgrounds.
Winterthur Studio

One residency for 2018 will be awarded to an artist from abroad with a project that relates to the residency location (the city of Winterthur).

The city of Winterthur is providing support for this residency and shall join the selection committee for the awarding of this studio.

History / Purpose
Doris Sträuli-Keller, a Winterthur-based music educator and arts patron, founded the Sulzberg Foundation in 1999. In accordance with the wishes of the founder and her husband, Dr. Hans Sträuli Jr., who predeceased her, their villa and their estate are to be used for the purposes of supporting and advancing the arts.

The aim of the Villa Sträuli stipend-supported residencies is to provide artists from all fields with an opportunity to work creatively and make new contacts in a stimulating environment. The residencies are designed to support international artists and to promote intercultural exchange. Artists whose main place of residence is Switzerland cannot be awarded residencies.
The Sulzberg Foundation provides three live-in studios for creative artists in the Villa Sträuli: one for the visual arts, one for literature or new media, and one for the performing arts or music.

Two studios are awarded simultaneously for residencies of three months each to creative artists of all disciplines and backgrounds; one studio is granted in cooperation with Swiss institutions.

If there is an opening, a studio will be announced on our website on short notice. For these studios also Swiss Artists can apply.
