Residency 25.4 - 23.7.2022
Gretel Medina Delgado is the first curator selected by the jury to win Villa Sträuli’s grant “Curator’s Call 2022”.
Gretel Medina is a curator based in Havanna, Cuba. Her curatorial practice is driven by the need to enable platforms that bring together artists and audiences, rethinking the formats of exhibitions as spaces for dialogue and experiment. Her work has been decisive in the development of the Contemporary Art Salons, considered the most significant platform in Cuba for the promotion of contemporary Cuban boundary-breaking art. She curated the editions 6, 7 and 8 in the years 2014, 2015 and 2018 respectively and gave the event a very special turn always enlisting art for the purpose of dialogue and interaction. Gretel’s dedication and passion has helped many groundbreaking, marginalized Cuban artists find a platform and audience.
Our team congratulates Gretel Medina and looks forward to having her in Winterthur!
