Myriam Amri explores intimacy as resistance against the backdrop of economic crises andenvironmental dystopias using moving images, film photography, installations, and sound. Her most recent film “The Release” is premiering at the HotDocs Festival in Toronto, Canada. Her creative works have been part of the Protocinema exhibition in New York, Savvy Contemporary in Berlin, the Jaou Biennale in Tunis, and the NYU Gallatin Galleries. She is the co-founder of the experimental Arab literary collective « Asameena » and is completing her PhD in Anthropology and Middle Eastern Studies at Harvard University. At Villa Sträuli, she will be working on a new project entitled “Poetics of the Submerged” which examines the submerged as a site to apprehend the relation between surface and seafloor and as a photographic method.
